The Central African Copperbelt is the largest and most prolific sediment-hosted copper province known on earth and one of the most important copper-producing regions globally. It has historically produced 50 million tonnes of copper metal and contains a further 150 million tonnes in known resources. It remains one of the most prospective high-grade copper producing regions anywhere in the world.
Moxico indirectly owns, through its Zambian subsidiaries, a portfolio of mining and exploration licences in the Zambian Central African Copperbelt region, located in three areas (or clusters), namely Chingola, Mufumbwe and Solwezi. These mineral rights are shown on the map in figure 1. The main commodities are copper, cobalt, gold and zinc.
